Tarek is one of the UK's top thyroid surgeons for both malignant and benign disease, according to data from the British Association of Endocrine and Thyroid Surgeons (BAETS) published in 2019. In 2001, Tarek received his medical school diploma. He was admitted into a very selective general surgery residency program after graduating with honors in both surgical and medical specialties. Mr. Akram is a consultant neurosurgeon at Queen Square's Unit of Functional Neurosurgery (UCL) and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (UCLH). His area of expertise includes spine and brain surgery. At the London School of Surgery (Heath Education England), Mr. Akram finished his specialty training in neurosurgery. Miss Ali is a University of Glasgow alumna. In Edinburgh and Aberdeen, she received specialized training in the ears, nose, and throat. She subsequently began two post-CCT fellowships in advanced head and neck cancer surgery at Guys and St Thomas' and later Charing Cross Hospital, both sponsored by the Royal College of Surgeons of England. During her training, Miss Ali undertook a research fellowship at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. In February 2016, she was hired as a consultant ENT/head and neck surgeon at the Royal London and UCLH following fellowship training. Miss Ali is a vital part of the thyroid and head and neck cancer MDTs, which are headquartered at the Royal London and UCLH. A consultant medical oncologist with a focus on the treatment of urological cancers, such as prostate, bladder, penile, and testicular cancer, Dr. Costi Alifrangis is one of these specialists. He received his medical training at Guy's, King's, and St. Thomas Medical School, where he also won the medical school's gold medal. He completed postgraduate medical training in London and Brighton as well as a cancer rotation at Imperial College. He studied hormone resistance in prostate cancer while a clinical academic fellow at Hammersmith Hospital and then won a Wellcome Trust scholarship to pursue a PhD at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and University of Cambridge. The interaction of genetics and therapeutics in the field of drug resistance, particularly personalized methods of cancer treatment, has been the focus of Dr. Alifrangis' research. He received the Sylvia Lawler Prize from the Royal Society of Medicine's cancer division and has published innovative research in journals like the Journal of Clinical cancer. He is actively involved in clinical trial research and has a special interest in non-Hodgkin's and Hodgkin's lymphoma. He participates in the Hodgkin's, high-grade, and low-grade lymphoma study groups at the National Cancer Research Institute. He serves as the Lymphoma Association's medical advisor. He has been the Chair of the Blood Cancer UK Clinical Advisory Group and Divisional Clinical Director for Cancer at UCLH. He has also served as the director of the haematology pathway for London Cancer. Jan. 2014–Feb. 2012. He served as the UCH MacMillan Cancer Center's lead clinician. Aug 2011-14. He obtained his Fellowship in the Royal College of Pathologists in 2008, as well as his Fellowship in the Royal College of Physicians in 2006. He has held positions as honorary consultant at Mount Vernon Cancer Center since 2002 and consultant haemato-oncologist at UCLH since 2002. He attended medical school at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge University, and University College London from 1984 to 1990.
