BIOGRAPHY
A consultant medical oncologist with a focus on the treatment of urological cancers, such as prostate, bladder, penile, and testicular cancer, Dr. Costi Alifrangis is one of these specialists. He received his medical training at Guy's, King's, and St. Thomas Medical School, where he also won the medical school's gold medal. He completed postgraduate medical training in London and Brighton as well as a cancer rotation at Imperial College. He studied hormone resistance in prostate cancer while a clinical academic fellow at Hammersmith Hospital and then won a Wellcome Trust scholarship to pursue a PhD at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and University of Cambridge. The interaction of genetics and therapeutics in the field of drug resistance, particularly personalized methods of cancer treatment, has been the focus of Dr. Alifrangis' research. He received the Sylvia Lawler Prize from the Royal Society of Medicine's cancer division and has published innovative research in journals like the Journal of Clinical cancer. Dr. Alifrangis has a continuing interest in treating patients with uncommon genitourinary cancers. He is the ULCH's chief medical oncologist for testicular and penile cancer.
