Later, he earned his medical master's degree from the University of Singapore's School of Postgraduate Medical Studies. He later became a member of the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh and was employed by the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh's Department of Cardiology. He went back to Singapore and was given the title of Fellow in Cardiology at the Kettering Medical Centre in Dayton, Ohio State, USA, where he received training in invasive and interventional cardiology after gaining more job experience. He is currently working as a cardiologist at Parkway East Hospital. In addition, he is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, the Academy of Medicine of Singapore, and the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Singh has served on the medical advisory boards for Parkway East Hospital's Medical Advisory Board and Mount Elizabeth Hospital's Quality Assurance Committees. He presently serves on the Clinical Practice Guidelines Committee for Hypertension for the Singapore Ministry of Health after serving in the past as Vice-Chairman of the Singapore National Heart Association and Associate Editor of the Singapore Medical Journal. Dr. Chew was awarded a number of scholarships in 1995 to work at the Mayo Clinic Biomechanics Laboratory in Minnesota, USA, where he studied the patellofemoral knee joint's biomechanics.
