Dr Aabha Nagral

One of India's top hepatologists, or liver specialists, is Dr. Aabha Nagral, who is headquartered in Mumbai. She has been effectively treating patients with all liver illnesses from India and abroad for almost 32 years. In her area of expertise, which encompasses adult and paediatric liver transplants and liver disorders, she is talented and renowned for finding solutions to complicated issues. She has a background in gastroenterology. She was among the first in India to concentrate on paediatric and adult hepatology. She played a key role in establishing the initial liver transplant programmes at Jaslok Hospital and later at Apollo Hospital in Mumbai. She took part in Western India's first successful paediatric liver transplant. The Children's Liver foundation, an NGO founded to raise awareness about liver problems in children, was founded with Dr. Aabha Nagral as one of its founding trustees. Several task forces of the Indian National Association for Study of Liver have included Dr. Aabha (INASL). She co-chairs the Mumbai ZTCC's Liver committee and is the head of the SAASL (South Asian Association for the Study of Liver) Women's Forum (Zonal Transplant Coordination Committee). She also sits on the Think Foundation's advisory board, and the Wilson's Disease Association of the USA, the Lysosomal Storage Disorders Support Society, and the Organisation of Rare Disorders of India have recognised her name as one of their centres of excellence for Wilson's disease. Since more than three decades ago, she has been actively engaged in academic and research activities at the national and international levels, producing more than 100 publications. She has played a key role in the planning of meetings for the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, and National Societies of Hepatology.
