Package Description
Lap Sleeve Gastrectomy
Sleeve Gastrectomy, commonly known as Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy, is an irreversible weight reduction procedure performed laparoscopically (LSG). The stomach is reduced to approximately a third of its original size after this treatment.
Disease Overprime:
Heart Disease with High BP
Chronically increased blood pressure (BP) is the cause of hypertensive heart disease; however, the reasons of raised BP are numerous. In adults, essential hypertension accounts for 90% of instances of hypertension. The other 10% of instances of chronically increased blood pressure are due to secondary causes of hypertension.
Uncontrolled and persistent elevations in blood pressure can cause a number of alterations in the heart's myocardial structure, coronary arteries, and conduction system. These changes can lead to left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH), coronary artery disease (CAD), various conduction system diseases, and myocardial systolic and diastolic dysfunction, which can manifest clinically as angina, myocardial infarction, cardiac arrhythmias (especially atrial fibrillation), and congestive heart failure (CHF).
Thus, hypertensive heart disease (HHD) is a term used to describe heart disorders induced by the direct or indirect consequences of high blood pressure, such as LVH (as seen in the photos below), coronary artery disease, cardiac arrhythmias, and CHF. Although these disorders are most commonly caused by chronically increased blood pressure, a large and sudden increase in blood pressure might exacerbate an underlying propensity to any of the symptoms normally associated with chronic hypertension.
Disease Signs and Symptoms:
- Breathing problems
- Swelling in the feet, ankles, or abdomen is a common symptom.
- Sleeping flat in bed is difficult.
- Bloating
- Pulse that isn't regular
- Nausea
- Fatigue
- At night, there is a greater desire to urinate.
Disease Causes:
High blood pressure is a condition that often develops over time. It can occur as a result of poor lifestyle choices, such as a lack of regular physical activity. Certain medical problems, such as diabetes and obesity, might also raise the risk of high blood pressure.
Diastolic heart failure, systolic heart failure, or a mix of the two are all possible outcomes of hypertensive heart disease. Acute consequences such as decompensated heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, or sudden cardiac death are more likely in these patients.
Disease Diagnosis:
Your doctor will search for hypertensive heart disease symptoms such as:
- Blood pressure that is too high
- The heart is enlarged, and the beating is erratic.
- Lung fluid or fluid in the lower extremities
- Heart noises that are unusual
- An ECG, echocardiography, cardiac stress test, chest X-ray, and coronary angiography may be used by your doctor to identify if you have hypertensive heart disease.
Disease Treatment:
Your doctor must treat the high blood pressure that is causing hypertensive heart disease in order to treat it. Diuretics, beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors, calcium channel blockers, angiotensin receptor blockers, and vasodilators will all be used to treat it.
In addition, your doctor may urge you to adopt lifestyle adjustments, such as:
Diet: If you have heart failure, you should restrict your salt consumption to 1,500 mg or 2 g per day or less, consume foods high in fibre and potassium, limit total daily calories to reduce weight if required, and avoid refined sugar, trans fats, and cholesterol.
Keeping an eye on your weight: This include keeping track of your weight on a daily basis, increasing your exercise level (as directed by your doctor), resting more often between activities, and organising your activities.
Tobacco and alcohol should be avoided.
Medical checks on a regular basis: Your doctor will check in with you on a regular basis to ensure that you are keeping healthy and that your heart condition is not progressing.
