Dr. Paresh Doshi

His accomplishments include operating on the youngest and oldest Parkinson's disease patients in the world as well as performing the first deep brain stimulation (DBS) operation in India. In the Asian-Australian subcontinent, he was the first neurosurgeon to do surgery for depression. The most DBS surgeries have been performed in South Asia at Jaslok Hospital. The first series (in the world) of DBS in patients with progressive supranuclear palsy was recently published by the functional neurosurgery unit (PSP). The functional neurosurgery department has already successfully completed more than 450 DBS treatments and the broadest range of functional neurosurgical procedures. Under his direction, the DNB Neurosurgery programme is administered by the department of neurosurgery. Every year, one neurosurgeon graduates from this programme.
